Grounded

A different kind of community tool

A space for your community, not another Facebook product.

Facebook Groups lives inside Facebook's feed, algorithm, and ad business. Grounded is a standalone home for your community, no Facebook account required.

Not tied to a Facebook account

Facebook Groups requires everyone in your community to have, and actually use, a Facebook account. Grounded doesn't. Anyone can join with just an email, including the growing number of people who've deleted Facebook entirely.

No algorithm deciding what you see

Posts in a Facebook Group get sorted, buried, and resurfaced by the same engagement algorithm that runs the rest of Facebook. Grounded has no feed to optimize - what you see is what your community actually posted, in order.

Built for coordination, not just posts

A Facebook Group is a comment thread with a name. Grounded is built around actually doing things together - lending and borrowing items, running projects, and organizing recurring events, not just a wall of posts.

No ads, no data feeding a business you're not part of

Every post, reaction, and member list in a Facebook Group feeds Facebook's ad-targeting business. Grounded's only job is to help your specific community function, not to monetize its attention.

What Grounded doesn't do

No News Feed pulling your community's posts into the same stream as everyone else's vacation photos. No ads. No requirement that every member already have an account with a company whose business model is your attention.

If what you want is a free, low-effort place to post updates to a big, loose group, Facebook Groups already does that well. If what you want is a smaller, more intentional community that actually coordinates in the real world, that takes something built for that specific job.
